This presentation addresses some of the climate change challenges that the Andean region faces, and explores local alternatives posed by rural and indigenous communities. Departing from these concrete cases, reflections are shared around the “care paradigm (including humans and non-humans) and its contributions to a socio-energetic transition including social and environmental justice concerns.
Laura Rodriguez Avalos, MA, is a venezuelan social scientist based in Vienna with experience in international cooperation. She holds a Master in Political Science (Universidad Simón Bolívar) and a Master in Development Studies (Graduate Institute Geneva). She coordinates international youth exchanges and action-research projects.
