As the world deals with climate change, the loss of biodiversity and a just energy transition, indigenous peoples are raising their voices - not only in defence of their rights, but also to strengthen their own concepts of law and ecological philosophies. Indigenous activism, rooted in holistic Shamanic traditions, is redefining what constitutes law, governance and sustainability at forums like the OECD, the COP climate negotiations and the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.

Edson Krenak, MA, is an Indigenous activist, scholar, and writer. He is currently a doctoral candidate, completing his degree in legal anthropology, at the University of Vienna, Austria. Edson also holds a degree in Linguistics and Literary Theory from Brazil's Federal University of São Carlos.
